The Mirante do Inferno route is one of the most classic of the PNSO (Parque Nacional da Serra dos Órgãos). It begins at Teresopolis and goes on towards Pedra do Sino, passing by waterfalls and a beautiful belvedere from where it is possible to see the entire city of Teresopolis and the three peaks of Salinas.
Upon arriving at an altitude of 2000 there is a fork leading into the valley, passing through streams and along the orchid way. This part of the trail is more difficult due to some paving stones and a few banks which require careful attention. The entire route is approximately 13km long (considering only the way up), so it is advisable that the participants are accustomed to hiking and also that they take along an anorak, a head lamp, a little bit of willingness and desire to venture. The Mirante do Inferno summit is amazing. The Agulha do Diabo (the Devil's Needle) is right across and you'll have the impression that you can reach out and touch it. At the summit, there's a book where the participants can leave their messages "thanking" the mountain.
